Offshore

In this work I wanted to convey the movement of the waves showing plastics washed ashore creating colourful alien forms. Plastics fascinate me: they have a volume which is disproportionate to the lightness of their weight.
Unlike organic materials whose colour fades once back in nature, plastics retain their brilliant colour for a long time. The abundance of plastics – the stuff of our present day culture – is changing our visual world. We can feel this parallel ecology intruding our natural habitat and begs the question to its integration.
As I’m currently dealing with environmental issues, my concern is in creating new visual effects by allowing a confrontation between an organic material and a synthetic fibre.
