I’m fascinated by the simplicity of wrapping string and in order to show all its potential I created a sort of monochrome tapestry. I wanted to explore a free weaving, non traditional technique that breathes and brings out the texture of this art. I’d like to share with others the idea that ordinary materials such as wrapping string can be stripped of their utilitarian connotations and take on new meaning when presented in a different context. The circles are symbolic of cycles and reclycling As I’m currently working on Environmental Art, I’m drawn to those less noble and more or less discarded materials which we tend to overlook.If we are to reconnect to our surroundings it’s essential to consider all materials as worthy of attention and consideration. The best way for me to showcase this by creating a kind of wall-hanging.
